News of the week – Mustang Service
▪ South Korea, December 2025.
A 20-year-old man was sentenced to
2 years in prison for insurance fraud involving the use of ChatGPT.
What happened:
→ photographed real medical certificates from a clinic in Busan
→ uploaded them to ChatGPT
→ asked to “extend” the treatment period
→ the AI generated documents indicating inpatient treatment (fainting, dizziness)
→ submitted
11 insurance claims over one year
→ total damage –
150 million won (~$110,000)
Why this matters:
This is the first recorded court case where an LLM was used not as a one-off tool,
but as an instrument of a systematic document fraud scheme.
Checkers are now focusing not only on visuals,
but on data logic, timing, and pattern repetition.
▪ The conclusion is simple: “AI-made” ≠ success.
