WHEN A “PERFECT” PSD FILE STARTS WORKING AGAINST YOU

A lot of people still believe that the cleaner and more polished the PSD, the better it will pass the check. In reality it often works the opposite way.

When everything in the file is too neat, layers are perfectly separated, and there’s not a single extra stroke or artifact — it can already raise suspicion on its own. Real files almost never look that sterile.

What usually triggers questions:
- Too many clean layers and masks with no traces of actual shooting
- Complete absence of natural artifacts from processing and conversion
- Perfectly sharp edges and lack of that “dirt” that almost always remains after real Photoshop work

At the same time, a file with a few extra layers, small artifacts, and traces of real editing often looks much more believable.

Interestingly, sometimes the less you try to make everything perfect, the more natural and alive the result becomes.

WHY REOPENING AND RESAVING A FILE CAN RUIN IT

Many people assume that simply opening a file, taking a quick look, and saving it back won’t cause any problems. In reality it often does the opposite.

Even when nothing visibly changes, reopening and resaving updates the metadata, refreshes timestamps, and can sometimes affect the color profile or compression. In PSD files this can slightly alter layer structure and introduce new artifacts.

As a result, the file starts looking like it was processed again — and that already raises red flags with verification systems.

? The worst part is you can change nothing in the actual content, just open and save, and the effect still appears.

WHEN IT'S BETTER TO REFUSE AN ORDER

Not every order is worth taking. Sometimes it's more honest to say "no" right away than to spend time and energy only to end up with a rejection or damaged reputation.

We turn down orders when the source material is too poor and can't be brought to an acceptable level. Or when the client wants a result that contradicts the likelihood of the document being approved. There are also cases where even with maximum effort the chances of success remain very low — in those situations we also prefer not to proceed.

Another stop sign is when the request goes beyond what we consider possible or ethical. In such cases we immediately explain the reason and offer alternatives if they exist.

?️ Saying no is harder than saying yes. But in the long run it works better for everyone.

CASINO REJECTED THE STATEMENT

▪ The client came with a casino bank statement in digital format. The organization he was submitting it to refused to accept digital copies and demanded “real copies” — proper full-page paper versions.

▪ He had already tried printing and photographing the document himself, but it was rejected again. On top of that, he needed to change the name and address to different details.

▪ What we did:

• Reformatted the document into a proper full-page paper statement style
• Created clean multi-page layout that looks like a standard bank document
• Made the necessary changes to the name and address
• Prepared the file so that when printed it would best meet the “real copy” requirements

▪ Result: the client received a document that no longer raised issues regarding format. After that, he was able to continue with his submission process.

▪ Sometimes the problem isn’t the content, but how the document looks and in what form it’s being submitted.
